Statement of Faith
1. One God.
We believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – the God of Israel, the God of the Bible. God is Holy, Eternal, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Love, Light, Spirit and Creator. He is to be worshipped, to be served and to be proclaimed.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!” – Deuteronomy 6:4
“Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” – Exodus 3:6
2. The Trinity.
We believe in the living and one true God who is eternally existing in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These Three are co-equal, co- eternal and are one God, not three Gods and not one Person who took three offices or forms.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.”- 2 Corinthians 13:14
“When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” – Matthew 3:16-17
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: ” -Matthew 28:19
3. God The Father.
The First Person of the Trinity. He is the unique Father of the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:3; Matthew 3:17), the Father of Israel (Jeremiah 31:9), the Father of all those who believe (John 1:12; Matthew 6:9), the Father of all creation (Acts 17:28-29) and the Father whom we call Abba, Father (Romans 8:15; Mark 14:36; Galatians 4:6).
4. God the Son.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16; Matthew 16:16), the Messiah (Matthew 16:16), the Way, the Truth, the Life (John 14:6). Jesus added human nature to His Divine nature when He was conceived of the Holy Spirit to be of a virgin birth; performed miracles, fulfilled prophesies, was crucified, died a sacrificial death – the Lamb of God, was buried, was resurrected; and ascended into heaven; and is now seated at the right hand of God; and is coming back again.
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:6-11
5. God The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person in the Holy Trinity and is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is sent by the Father and Jesus Christ to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells and seals every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He empowers us to live as witnesses for Christ thru His baptism and infilling. We believe that all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to His church today.
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” – John 14:16-17
“And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:” – John 16:8
6. The Bible
We believe the Bible, composed of sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, in its entirety and in its original manuscripts is the inspired Word of God. We hold on to the sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures and to the principle that we should not think beyond what is written. Our code of guidance in all our affairs is the Word of God.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” – 2 Timothy 3: 16-17
“Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other.” 1 Corinthians 4:6
7. Fall of Man.
We believe that God has created man in a perfect sense, male and female, in His own image and likeness, to glorify Him and enjoy His fellowship. However, due to disobedience of Adam, all people are fallen, corrupt and wicked and are in desperate need redemption.
“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” – Romans 5:12
“O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!” – Romans 7:24-25
8. The Gospel.
We believe in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:3-7 as the one true Gospel, which knowledge and acceptance will bring salvation to man. Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
9. Repentance.
We believe that repentance is the only man’s part in God’s Divine plan of salvation. Repentance is changing of the mind or making decision to go back to God and make things right with God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
“Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” – Acts 17:30-31
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” – Acts 3:19
“17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” – Matthew 4:17
10. Salvation by Grace thru Faith.
We believe that salvation means being saved from the righteous judgement of God upon the sinners with the forgiveness of sins offered by the Lord Jesus to those who will believe Him (Acts 10:43). Salvation is a free gift from God and is obtained by grace, thru faith (Ephesians 2:8), and is available to everyone who will believe on the Lord Jesus (John 3:16). As repentance is the change of the mind, a decision to make things right with God, a person who puts his faith on the Lord Jesus should be truly repentant. (Mark 1:15).
“To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission[ of sins.”.” – Acts 10:43
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” – Ephesians 2:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”- Romans 5:8-9
10. Baptism and Communion.
We believe in the observance of these ordinances specifically given by the Lord Jesus. While they are not requisites for salvation nor are means to salvation, they are essential to those who believe in their walk as disciples of Jesus Christ.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” – Matthew 28:19
“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.” – 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
We believe that Christian baptism is a public declaration of the believer’s salvation in Christ, identifying with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection symbolized by immersion in water. The Lord’s Supper is the united commemoration by believers of Christ’s death until He comes and should be preceded by a careful self-examination (Acts 2:41; Romans 6:3-6; 1 Corinthians 11:20-29).
11. Second Coming of Jesus.
We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again to finish and seal the prophesies and God’s divine plan of salvation for man. His second coming is associated with events like the rapture of the Church, the tribulation, the millennial reign of the King, resurrections of the dead and judgements.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
“…This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” – Acts 1:11b
12. Christian Disciplines.
We believe in Christian disciplines such as fellowship, worship, preaching of the Word, prayer, fasting, discipleship, giving, stewardship, helping the poor, visiting the orphans and caring for others. These disciplines are prescribed to the Church for spiritual growth, maturity, edification, kingdom building and kingdom living.
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” – Acts 2:42
